Central Texas airshow

On the 6th 7th and 8th of May 2011 the Supermarine crew made there way down to Temple Texas.

With WDM currently going through the FAA registration process, she had to be loaded onto the trailer instead of flying down. A brief sigh, but once she was tied down strapped up and deemed safe for travel the crew jumped into the car ready for the 3.5 hour trip.

Over the three days we got to watch a great show and meet some fantastic people. We want to thank every one who talked with us and we appreciated the feedback recieved on our product.

Corker Fornof was happy to take a seat in the cockpit and told us "He wants to fly WDM" and "Its a well constructed aircraft"

Weekend in Canada

(Clint,Harold,Mike)

On the 29th March Mike and Clint flew into Calgary Canada to visit Harold Line and his team. Harold picked us up and on the way to see his spitfire he told us of a problem with the tacho he had fitted. At his hanger we met Shane Daly and Bob White.
Harold and Bob have done a marvelous job on there MK26b kit, within minutes we had the tacho up and running, so best to test it out. The boys very kindly agreed to push it outside and run it in the snow, they kept telling us this was a warm day only 0 degrees, later we were told it has been down to 42 below. Harold climbed aboard in his flying jacket and fired the spit up much to my relief the tacho worked fine.
I felt rather sorry for Bob and Shane who had to hold the tail down while Harold did engine runs, It got up to operating temp and all was well the day went so quick after a very late lunch Harold drove us back to the motel.
We would like to say they have done a extremely beautiful job and Supermarine will be very proud to see it fly.

TWO WWII PILOTS TAKE TO THE SKY IN A MK26B

Murray Adams and Mike O'Sullivan

For me to fly two WWII fighter pilots has to be the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my career. I flew Murray Adams on his 91st birthday,He flew spitfires in Africa and Europe in the RAF and RAAF. What was especially satisfying for us here at Supermarine was when Murray said our MK26B flew exactly like the originals he flew.

Mike O'Sullivan and Werner Leist

I could not believe my luck when I got to fly Werner Leist a real Luftwaffe WWII, ME109 pilot. At the age of fourteen…yes fourteen he was in the airforce flying
(1944-45) He said “It was just what you did then”.

Dick and Pip Smith visits the Supermarine factory

Dick said "its great to see an icon being engineered and built in Australia"

Photos and report from the 2009 Wide Bay Australia International Air show

The Bundaberg airport was the location for this three day event which was held from Friday the 3rd of july to Sunday the 5th of july.

The weather for the event was perfect with crystal clear skies, but it was very windy on the saturday.

Crowd numbers were very good, with a lot of interest shown in the V8 Mk26B spitfire.

Every hour the test bed engine would be started up, there might be 4 or 5 people standing around and when the V8 roared into life, the small crowd instantly swelled in numbers to 20-30 people, this happened every time the engine was started. This V8 engine is the same as the motor used in the Bundy red V8 Supercar which raced the L39 Jet Aircraft.

A big thank you to all who attended the supermarine display stand and especially those people who made inquiries about purchasing a kit.
